About The Position

This is a 0.5 position located at Science Focus Elementary School. The role involves teaching vocal/choral music with a science focus. The teacher will be responsible for preparing students for various performance opportunities, participating in festivals, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. The position requires a team-oriented individual who is organized, flexible, and dedicated to working with a diverse community of learners. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining the music website, providing outreach to grow the program, and staying current with arts-related technology and best practices.

Requirements

Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
Must be endorsed in music.

Nice To Haves

Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Ability to work as part of a team.

Prepare students for school, pyramid and outside performance opportunities.
Participate in pyramid festival yearly for feeder schools.
Provide effective communications between and among school staff, Arts Education Supervisor, students, parents and community.

Work effectively with fine arts team.
Effectively maintain music website.
Provide outreach opportunities to grow quality program.
Must be team oriented and able to work cohesively with others and meet timelines.
Must be organized with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must provide minimum of 2 school based performances.
Must attend county wide Arts Education professional development.
Provide choral pullout program to grade 4/5 students.
Stay current with arts related technology and best practices.
