About The Position

The Music Teacher-Elementary is responsible for teaching the District-approved curriculum to elementary students. This role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons using a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students. The teacher will create a positive and conducive learning environment, ensuring the safety of students and materials. Key responsibilities include assisting administration with policy implementation, guiding student behavior, diagnosing learning disabilities with specialist support, evaluating student growth, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with students, parents, administrators, and the public.

Requirements

Must hold proper state certification as identified for this licensure area
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals consistent with the duties of this position
Ability to compose and write routine reports consistent with the duties of this position
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff and the general public consistent with the duties of this position
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Familiarity with basic computer operation and software.
Ability to learn various computer operations required for management of student information and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skills in oral and written communication.
Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

Teaches District approved curriculum
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
Plans a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students
Assists in diagnosing the learning disabilities of students, with the assistance of district specialists
Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
Serve on committees as assigned.
Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
