About The Position

This position provides patients with quality treatment interventions in order to facilitate therapeutic change, prepare patients for re-entry into the community, and to improve or maintain functioning in areas of psychological, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social and/or physical need.

Requirements

Degree in Music/Recreation Therapy from an accredited college or university
Current professional certification/licensure or eligible within 6 months
Experience working in a clinical setting
Experience working with older adults and/or individuals with mental health issues

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

Knowledge of principles of assessment and ability to modify treatment approaches based on patients’ response to interventions
Ability to prepare written treatment plans with objectives and interventions
Ability to conduct group and individual interventions
Knowledge of the dynamics and processes of a therapeutic relationship and of group therapy
Ability to provide therapeutic experiences that assist the patient to utilize and enhance their strengths, improve coping skills, and foster hope
Effective written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of professional standards of clinical documentation
Knowledge of professional code of ethics and the hospital’s ethical standards
Ability to interact with others in a manner that respects diversity and differences including but not limited to culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices
