About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the functions of the School of Music program. The Music Instructor ensures the quality of programs and safety of youth at all times, provides guidance and role modeling to youth, and ensures a safe and positive experience for the students.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months experience teaching music education and teaching experience.
  • Ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student.
  • Endurance including standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate music equipment and activities.
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate musical activities/programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available.

Nice To Haves

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality music instruction to students.
  • Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes.
  • Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
  • Is responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Youth and Music Evangelism Director and/or Corps Officers.
  • Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
  • Recommends and develops activities which will develop musical abilities, motor and sound learning skills of students.
  • Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods, enabling all students to feel welcome and comfortable.
