About The Position

This part-time position involves providing private or semi-private music instruction to students on guitar and bass. If the instructor is multi-instrumentalist, they will also provide band coaching to small rock/pop ensembles for live performance and recordings. The role requires instructing students in techniques for playing in small groups, directing groups in playing, performing, and recording songs, and supporting student placement in pop/rock ensembles. The instructor will also be responsible for moving, setting up, and breaking down equipment, and assisting with basic repairs of site equipment and instruments.

Requirements

• Demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and be able to communicate those concepts to students.
• Play a musical instrument. Multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred.
• Demonstrate the ability to run basic sound equipment.
• Able to receive constructive feedback on teaching techniques and apply the feedback to new teaching situations and environments.
• Able to be physically present at B2R for scheduled lessons and administrative responsibilities.
• Advanced knowledge of music theory and technique relevant to primary instruments.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment, i.e. telephones, photocopiers and computers.
• Ability to interact effectively with the public.
• Ability to work effectively with B2R staff and management.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Proficient English speaking and writing skills.

Nice To Haves

• Multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred.
• Additional language(s) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to music students in a private or semi-private lesson format using a proprietary curriculum.
• Instruct students in techniques needed to play in small groups.
• Direct small groups in playing, performing and recording original and cover songs.
• Support private student placement in pop/rock ensembles in collaboration with the School Director staff.
• Move, set up and break down equipment at the school and school events.
• Assist in basic repair of minor site equipment and instruments.
