Music Director PT - Cape Ann YMCA
About The Position
The Cape Ann YMCA is hiring a part-time Music Director for Holiday Delights, its original holiday musical featuring young performers ages 5–17. The production has been a Cape Ann community tradition since 2007 and uses music from the classic holiday repertoire. The Music Director teaches music to the cast, supports young performers as they develop their musical skills, and creates an encouraging environment for learning. The role includes accompanying performers on piano during tech week and live performances and collaborating with the production team to prepare the cast for the show. The Music Director is expected to attend one weekly rehearsal. Rehearsals are scheduled Tuesdays from 4:00–6:00 PM, Thursdays from 4:30–6:30 PM, or Fridays from 4:00–6:00 PM; the YMCA offers flexibility on the rehearsal day. Tech week is December 7–10. Performances are Friday, December 11 at 7:00 PM, Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 PM, and Sunday, December 13 at 2:00 PM. Weekly rehearsals take place at the Cape Ann YMCA; tech week and performances take place at Annisquam Village Hall, 34 Leonard Street, Gloucester, MA. The position is located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and pays $18.00–$23.00 per hour.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children.
- Experience working with youth in theatre or structured programs.
- Strong piano skills and vocal coaching ability.
- Ability to engage and inspire young performers.
- Creative, collaborative, and supportive leadership style.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Ability to respond appropriately and immediately to unexpected situations, both physically and mentally.

- Arts or theatre programming experience.
