About The Position

The Music Director Team Lead is responsible for assisting with musical direction and preparation for the Main Worship Center and Campuses set forth by the Ministry Lead of Musical Arts. The Music Director Team Lead will assist with equipping and discipling worship volunteers in their musicianship, musical training and spiritual development; focuses on assisting with raising the bar musically for the overall sound/execution of WOL Worship; is responsible for track building in Playback and set preparation in Planning Center Online each week for all worship services; responsible to raise up and disciple other Music Director Team Leads for future growth and band development; assists in onboarding of new worship members from worship auditions; provides feedback and support in musician scheduling; helps to manage and oversee musical equipment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ worship directing experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with live/studio recording
  • 2 years’ ministry experience in an active lay leadership role coordinating ministry/volunteers with the ability to recruit, lead, train and supervise volunteers
  • Advanced to expert knowledge in music theory
  • Musicianship in multiple styles of music; multi-instrumentalist
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of office technology tools, including Planning Center Online, Playback, MS Office, Google Drive; Basic knowledge of Pro-Tools, Reason and Omnisphere
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Friendly, flexible, able to multitask, enjoys working with all kinds of people
  • Able to work flexible hours, be available on evenings and weekends as program requires
  • Aspire to be a Christian role model in accordance with 1 Timothy, chapter 3
  • Maintain a consistent relationship with God, demonstrate a strong and growing walk with Christ, and live a Biblical lifestyle that honors Christ

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation of musician and spiritual development.
  • Partner with the Ministry Lead of Musical Arts and other Music Director Team Leads to help with musicianship and spiritual development for current worship team members and new worship volunteers.
  • Lead and manage quarterly musician training workshops and clinics.
  • Take on students to teach them guitar and/or music directing initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding new worship volunteers and run musical rehearsals.
  • Oversee worship servant leader growth regarding musicianship.
  • Assess worship volunteers in their musical growth and assess when workshops, clinics, or lessons are needed.
  • Run worship rehearsals when scheduled.
  • Partner with worship leaders and execute the vision and direction of the worship leader to the band musicians for each service assigned.
  • Works directly with the FOH Engineer to create a cohesive & consistent sound for the overall worship experience.
  • Be available for all major services i.e. Christmas, NYE, Good Friday and Easter to music direct and lead teams/music initiatives.
  • Assist with musician scheduling to maintain balance within the teams both spiritually and sonically for each team member.
  • Assist with quarterly reviews for each musician set forth by the Ministry Lead of Musical Arts.
  • Collaborate with the Assoc. Pastor/Director of Worship, Ministry Team Lead of Musical Arts, and Worship Administrator to assist in managing Planning Center Online, Dropbox, and Playback for worship department administrative needs and worship tracks.
  • Attend weekly worship staff meetings.
  • Responsible for musical equipment, inventory, and repairs as needed.
