About The Position

Epiphany Cathedral Parish is looking for a Music Assistant Coordinator to support the Music Director at Epiphany Cathedral Parish. This position is responsible for playing the organ and assisting vocalists at liturgical and non-liturgical celebrations as well as administrative functions coordinated with the Music Director. This position is also responsible to teach Epiphany Catholic School students about music, prepare to sing at school masses and perform the Christmas show.

Requirements

  • Organ and piano performance proficiency.
  • Experience in a Catholic Church setting.
  • Knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and sacred music.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary education is applicable to this teaching assignment.
  • Hold a current or is able to obtain a 5 year renewable Professional Florida Educator Certificate; a 3-4 year non-renewable Temporary Florida Educator Certificate or be eligible for certification.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of current teaching method and educational pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts,
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Proficiency with computer network systems and software programs.
  • Ability to use technology to enhance student learning.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Undergoing a FDLE Level 2 background check

Responsibilities

  • Accompany Saturday Vigil Masses. This includes all music for the Mass as well as organ preludes and postludes.
  • Accompany Sunday Masses and/or Choir Rehearsals as needed; scheduled in advance.
  • Provide coverage for services when the Director of Music is absent.
  • Assist with the organization and planning of seasonal concert series.
  • Assist with the preparation of special holiday liturgies. This includes orchestra and choral music preparation as well as worship aides.
  • Assist the Music Director with administrative tasks (liturgy/music scheduling, talent acquisition, library maintenance, copyright reporting, etc.).
  • Participate in regular staff and liturgy meetings as needed.
  • Attend rehearsals and Masses scheduled and assigned by the Music Director.
  • Maintain holiday availability (such as Christmas, New Years and Easter), as well as seasonal concerts.
  • Maintain professional competence through regular music practice.
  • Researching liturgical norms, practices, and directives regarding Roman Catholic sacred music and celebrations. Personal preparation for each Rite to the extent that this knowledge can be shared and discussed with others.
  • Develops and administers school grade-level curriculum consistent with Diocesan goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences; differentiates instruction based on student learning style and needs.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning.
  • Continues professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops and professional meetings.
  • Encourages parental involvement in student education and ensures effective communication to students and parents.
  • Actively participates in faculty meetings and committees
  • Participates in activities outside of the classroom involving students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
