Museum Security Officer
About The Position
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to protect property, visitors, and employees while enforcing the security rules and regulations. Primary work responsibilities may include: patrolling buildings, structures, and/or grounds; utilizing surveillance equipment to observe staff, patrons, and other visitors; investigating and taking appropriate action when alarms are activated or unusual situations occur; completing and submitting work orders; and interacting with patrons, visitors, and staff members. Employee works under the direction of the Zoo Security Supervisor or Museum Chief Security Officer.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Six months experience in security work, protecting persons and property
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Must submit to a background check
- Must obtain an Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board ‘Responsible Vendor’ certification within six months of employment
- Must obtain CPR/ADE certification within six months of employment
- Ability to walk, stand, and remain alert for the duration of the assigned shift
- Ability to climb stairs and a ladder at a height of 14 feet
- Willingness to work outside as needed
