About The Position

The Museum Intern is a seasonal, part-time position working directly under the supervision of the Museum Curator. The Museum Intern will work in the areas of collection management, exhibitions, and programming. The Museum Assistant may also perform these duties at the Nature Classroom.

Requirements

Interest in museums, history, education, or related fields
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Nice To Haves

Experience with research, writing, or working with the public is a plus

Responsibilities

Cataloging procedures and collections documentation
Preservation and care techniques for different material types
Research methods and resources for museum collections
Monitoring and maintaining collections storage
Participate in brainstorming exhibit themes
Assist with selecting objects for display
Write and edit exhibit label copy
Design exhibit labels
Help build mounts and assist with exhibit installation
Work on the design of school programs (with an emphasis on K–5 audiences)
Interact with visitors during public programs and craft days
Give engaging museum tours
Assists with museum special events, administrative tasks, and exhibit installation when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
