About The Position

Interactors are the heart and spirit of Discovery Cube, engaging with a wide range of guests and staff in a dynamic, high-energy environment. They help guests use specific exhibits and learn the science behind them, and may deliver basic science presentations through tabletop facilitation or demonstrations. Interactors provide friendly customer service and serve as role models for exhibit use. The position reports to the Shift Lead on duty and is seasonal, anticipated to run from November 2026 through January 2027.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Public speaking or performance experience.
Prior experience working with children.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Friendly demeanor and ability to engage adults and children of all ages.
Basic understanding of scientific concepts and willingness to learn and teach them.
Proactive, self-starting approach and ability to work independently.
Basic computer knowledge, including email and internet browsing.
Availability for full weekends (Saturday and Sunday), for shifts of up to 8 hours scheduled between 7:30 AM and 7:30 PM, and one full weekday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM or two half-days from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Ability to stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to safely bend to turn exhibits on or off.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds for short periods.

Nice To Haves

College degree, especially in Science or Education.
At least one year of experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
Microsoft Office skills.
Knowledge of a second language.
Prior cash-handling experience.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and professional interactions with guests and staff.
Offer helpful and knowledgeable information about Discovery Cube and its offerings.
Proactively engage guests on the floor and while they interact with exhibits.
Help ensure guests have a fun and safe experience.
Understand and use the Galaxy program as needed.
Operate equipment as outlined in the Interactor Manual.
Lead science-based demonstrations for multiple age levels.
Assist with stage shows, field trips, birthday parties, and other programs as needed.
