About The Position

MACT Health Board's mission, since 1969, is to improve the health status of the American Indian and Alaskan Native population by providing high-quality care through various services. They are seeking a compassionate and reliable Museum Guest Services Attendant for a Part-Time role in their Native American Cultural Museum. This role involves providing visitor assistance services, greeting visitors, selling tickets, assisting in the gift shop, aiding with museum tours and groups, recording feedback, answering calls, and assisting with fundraising events. The position requires an ability to work with Native visitors compassionately and knowledgeably.

Requirements

  • Understanding of museums and the museum field
  • Strong understanding of Miwok culture.
  • Strong customer service and retail experience.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
  • Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.
  • Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).
  • Awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian health organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree preferred in an applicable aspect of the Humanities or the completion of two years of college level courses in related field within 36 months of employment.
  • Current BLS/ALS certificate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and orient them to the museum grounds.
  • Sell admission tickets.
  • Assist visitors in the gift shop and complete sales.
  • Assist with museum tours, educational and large groups.
  • Record comments and complaints about the museum and its displays.
  • Answer calls to the museum.
  • Ability to work with Native visitors in a compassionate and knowledgeable way.
  • Assist with fundraising events.
  • May occasionally be asked to cover additional shifts during the week if the need arises.
