About The Position

We’re looking for an energetic and engaging Museum Facilitator to support family-centered, hands-on maker experiences at our flagship location above Bethesda Metro Center. The role involves assisting with program setup, cleanup, and room resets, and supporting open-ended, learner-driven activities across various studios including Woodshop, Tech Lab, Textiles Studio, Electronics, and Cardboard Studio. The facilitator will also engage visitors in large, collaborative spaces such as Big Build, Maker Arena, Materials Bar, Cultural community projects, and the Mini Maker Zone (ages 3–5). Additionally, participation in 2 hours per month of staff training and/or meetings is required, which may occur Monday–Friday, during regular working hours, either in person or virtually.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with families or youth audiences
  • Passion for exploration-based, hands-on learning
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable, independent, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to commit to at least two Sundays per month (more available shifts optional)

Nice To Haves

  • Background in maker education, STEM, or similar fields
  • Familiarity with the Maker Movement
  • Spanish language proficiency
