About The Position

The SM-3 Portfolio is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the role of Munitions Acceleration Program Director (MAPM). This position reports directly to the SM-3 Portfolio Executive Leader and offers a significant opportunity to impact a portfolio focused on production excellence, innovation, and global security. As MAPM, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and programmatic execution to achieve groundbreaking capacity expansion and accelerate production for the SM-3 Portfolio. The mission involves propelling production rates to unprecedented levels, architecting innovative solutions to complex challenges, and shaping the future of advanced munitions manufacturing. This role requires inspiring collaboration, igniting innovation, and orchestrating excellence across a network of stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, and customers. The Director will navigate program execution with precision and creativity, ensuring milestones are met, and will align closely with the SM-3 Portfolio Executive Leadership team to influence strategic decisions, elevate operational performance, and ensure seamless execution of portfolio priorities. The leadership will unlock opportunities, mitigate risks, and deliver solutions that exceed expectations. The preferred onsite location is Tucson, AZ, with consideration for McKinney, TX, Andover, or Tewksbury, MA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 12 years’ experience
  • Prior experience in program management, production, or capacity expansion within the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Proven expertise in EVMS, Integrated Master Schedules, and Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Prior leadership and or management experience
  • Prior experience working in cross functional matrix environment (ex: Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.)
  • Prior experience working with multiple types of customers (Internal and External)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or Engineering.
  • Experience in munitions production, obsolescence mitigation, and capacity expansion.
  • Familiarity with Raytheon production systems and processes.
  • Experience with driving innovation in production environments.
  • Ability to manage complex, interrelated efforts with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the overarching strategy for program execution within the SM-3 portfolio, prioritizing production capacity expansion and establishing requirements to meet aggressive ramp-up goals.
  • Serve as the portfolio’s central point of alignment with the Raytheon Capacity Growth Organization (CGO), ensuring seamless programmatic execution across stakeholders and resolving challenges collaboratively.
  • Lead the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance for CGO-driven initiatives, leveraging advanced program management tools to ensure alignment and deliver creative solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Proactively manage risks and opportunities across interconnected efforts, ensuring optimal performance in cost, quality, and schedule while developing coordinated strategies to address production, development, and obsolescence challenges.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and primary portfolio liaison for all program-specific progress and production ramp-up efforts.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with both internal and external customers, ensuring alignment with their expectations and priorities.
  • Spearhead capacity growth initiatives across factories and supply bases to achieve a production rate exceeding 3x current levels.
  • Oversee and standardize process innovations to ensure alignment with SM-3 portfolio objectives and future production readiness.
  • Serve as a vital communication conduit between stakeholders, enabling alignment of production priorities and effective planning for capacity, technology insertion, and obsolescence challenges.
  • Negotiate collaborative solutions for overlapping initiatives to deliver win-win outcomes.
  • Lead innovative production strategies to address dynamic supply and production challenges, driving cost efficiencies, resource optimization, and accelerated lifecycle transitions.
  • Ensure production success through forward-thinking solutions and operational rigor.
  • Ability to travel as needed to coordinate with the internal teams, our suppliers and customers
