About The Position

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Practice Builder to expand our presence in Midland/Odessa. This role will focus on leading growth in and around the Permian Basin Market, supporting broad regional growth, and contributing to recruiting and team development.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Experience successfully winning and delivering work in the local and/or surrounding areas
  • Experience and relationships with local agencies and/or local municipalities
  • Experience writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected work

Responsibilities

  • Lead Growth in and around the Permian Basin Market (approx. 50% of time): Focus on growing the Kimley-Horn presence in the Permian Basin with project pursuits such as public works, parks, water, aviation, and regional infrastructure. Utilize marketing, partnering, and external relationship building. Work with local practice partners to develop/enhance client relationships with TxDOT and local clients (Midland County, City of Midland, MDC, City of Odessa, Ector County, Martin County, etc.). Partner with marketing staff for strategic pre-sell activities and proposal production.
  • Support Broad Regional Growth (approx. 40% of time): Partner with regional practice leaders to integrate into existing Kimley-Horn projects to accelerate growth within the broader Permian Basin markets and other firm markets. Build relationships in these markets and, in select circumstances, may serve as Principal-In-Charge or Project Manager. Support and help practice builders within the region and firm to manage existing contracts by providing project management, task management, and/or quality control.
  • Recruiting and Team Development (approx. 10% of time): Focus on staff development, including recruiting, training, and mentorship, in partnership with others across the Region. This may include the full spectrum of recruiting from initial sourcing to final offer presentation.
