About The Position

Under general direction, assists with developing and managing the City’s Municipal Forestry program; works with Parks Operations and Maintenance staff to coordinate forestry program activities and timetables to ensure the protection, inventory, health, and maintenance of trees on City municipal property; coordinates, manages and oversees maintenance contracts; and performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Horticulture, Forestry, Environmental Science or a related field
Three (3) years of experience in municipal/urban forestry or horticulture maintenance
Two (2) years of experience administering maintenance contracts
A valid and current certification as an ISA Certified Arborist ® is required at the time of application
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
Must obtain and maintain the appropriate OSHA card as defined by the Nevada Revised Statue (NRS 618.950)
Must obtain and maintain Nevada Pesticide Applicator Certification within one (1) year of hire and as a condition of continued employment
Must obtain and maintain ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional ® Certification within two (2) years of hire and as a condition of continued employment
All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents’ expense
