About The Position

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager with at least 7 years of experience in our Suffern, New York office location. This individual will lead our Municipal Engineering work. What you’ll do on a day-to-day basis: Presently the Suffern office services three Rockland County Villages. Following are customary specific tasks to be performed for the Villages: Support Mayor and Trustees/ Clerk/Administrator General assistance Regular Village Hall visits- varies Provide expert witness testimony for lawsuits. Support Building Department/Planning/Zoning Review, assist with zoning, master plan updates. Code interpretation Floodplain admin/ floodplain interpretation. Support DPW Capital Improvement Projects: Evaluate project, prep concept, develop scope, develop project narrative. Solicit quotes from any necessary subcontractors, prepare budget. Develop concept plans and assist in obtaining grants. Prepare plans, specs, obtain any necessary permits, prepare construction documents, assist in bidding process – start to finish. Site Inspections, review C of O requests, payment requests, close out. Prepare as built plans. Coordinate with Department of Labor and submit periodical updates per project. Coordinate with funding agency and attend quarterly status meetings. MS-4- All Villages Attend monthly Consortium meetings. Prepare annual reports and interim updates. Present same at public hearings. Prepare updates to SWMP- stormwater management plan – on going task. Prepare SWPPP’s for municipal properties. Mapping- supervise staff, train staff, train DPW workers. Perform QA/QC. Grants- mapping grants need to be obtained. Assist to track/identify potential illicit discharge. Reviews for Planning Board, and ZBA, attend TAC, draft reports, attend meetings, review SWPP’s, perform site inspections. Some evening meetings are required. Attend various village/ fundraise/community/ events. What you’ll do on a long-term basis: In addition to the day-to-day Municipal Engineering Tasks, you will also be expected to assist with the design responsibilities for other clients as needed and as your time permits. Supervise and lead project teams in the conduct of engineering reports, field studies, and designs, utilizing recognized industry standards and regulatory-compliant approaches. Provide hands-on leadership working side by side with our engineering staff to complete challenging engineering and construction projects. The candidate will be expected to be flexible in terms of handling multiple assignments, work directly with clients to understand needs and to advance project planning and design assignments. Pursue new work opportunities through established client relationship, market sector awareness, and competitive pursuits, including participation in proposal development and interviews/presentations. Assess opportunities and define project scope, schedule, and fee, as well as determine work procedures, staffing, and sub-consultant assignments. Participate in company sponsored training programs, seminars, professional organizations and technical committees Collaborate and build strong working relationships with internal multi-disciplinary teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar engineering degree.
  • Possess and maintain a New York State Professional Engineering License, in good standing.
  • 7 to 15 years of relevant experience working with municipal clients in engineering or project management roles.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and clients, along with the associated administrative, budgetary, and financial tracking/profitability aspects of projects.
  • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, team leadership, and mentoring.
  • Possessing high ethical standards, committed to producing high quality work, with a commitment to teamwork, respect and integrity.
  • Exemplary communication skills, including verbal, written, and public presentation.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Some travel may be required, must have a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience that includes AutoCAD drafting; civil/site design; infrastructure/utility planning, modeling, and design would be helpful.
