The City of Pearland, TX, is seeking to hire a full-time Municipal Court Clerk. This role performs routine clerical and administrative functions related to the procedures, laws, and record-keeping tasks required of a Municipal Court of Record. The position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. It assists with administrative duties for the court, as assigned, which include processing paperwork; scanning and printing documents; data entry, retrieving accident and incident reports; and updating and maintaining various schedules and listings. The clerk provides customer service to citizens, defendants, parents of defendants, and other parties by phone and in person, answering questions, taking payments, setting court dates, entering information in the computer, preparing payment plans, and receiving required and/or court-ordered documents. The clerk also assists citizens with information regarding the entire municipal court process, prepares cases for court, processes judgments and dispositions, and enters case information into the court software system. Additionally, the clerk assists the Judge and court personnel in the courtroom as needed, prepares and maintains court files, reviews court files for compliance, prepares arrest warrants, runs routine reports, generates correspondence, reviews work for accuracy, processes mail, and assists citizens with general information about the City. The clerk receives payments for Municipal Court fines and fees as well as cash bond payments and must communicate effectively and courteously with customers and other City employees. The role also involves acting as a responsible steward of the public trust and striving for excellence in public service.
