About The Position

North Alabama Medical Center is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network. As a Multiskilled Technician (PCA) joining the Post Surgical Unit team, you are embracing a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. This role is for a PRN (Per Diem) position. The Medical-Surgical Unit delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care to a diverse population, including vascular, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, chemotherapy, and GIP hospice patients. This dynamic unit provides exposure to a wide range of medical conditions and treatments, offering staff the opportunity to develop broad clinical skills while working collaboratively to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

Requirements

• Requires Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
• BCLS required; Handle with Care preferred.

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma preferred.
• SRNA or EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
