About The Position

WSCV/T51, NBCUniversal Local’s Spanish-language television station in South Florida, seeks a Multimedia Journalist to produce content for multiple platforms in a fast-paced news market. The role calls for broadcasting experience in Spanish and the ability to work in English as part of a duopoly newsroom. The journalist will develop fresh, authentic stories for television, social media, and streaming; find relatable characters; and contribute as a community member inside and outside the newsroom. The person in this role may shoot and edit video as needed.

The position is required to be performed full time onsite at an NBCUniversal-designated work site, with the station’s location in Miramar. The schedule is flexible and may include overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends. The journalist must also be willing to work in high-risk emergency situations, including hurricanes.

Requirements

• Fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong Spanish-language storytelling, on-air presentation, and live reporting abilities.
• At least 5 years of experience in newsgathering and/or news production.
• B.A. degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

• Willingness to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation.
• At least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pitch angles on major daily news stories, and follow developments when appropriate.
• Shoot and edit video when necessary.
• Tell stories compellingly and provide context.
• Build relevant contacts and sources within the community.
• Deliver live and recorded news events and stories authentically, accurately, compellingly, and engagingly.
• Follow NBC News legal and standards guidelines in news gathering and storytelling.
• Use creative, high-quality production techniques and think visually, incorporating varied video angles, graphics, viewer photos and videos, and virtual interviews.
• Create and post digital and social content about daily stories.
• Use social media to engage viewers.
