About The Position

Postmedia is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic journalist for a full-time position within its newsroom. This role is for the daily news leader covering the communities of Cornwall, Akwesasne, and the United Counties of SDG. The position is unionized, subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement with Local 555M, Teamsters/Graphics Communications Conference. This is a remote-work position, but requires attending events in-person within the coverage area, necessitating access to a reliable vehicle.

Requirements

• A track record of good storytelling.
• Ability to use all tools available within a modern newsroom to publish stories across print and digital platforms.
• Ability to balance working independently and contributing to team projects and goals.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Filing copy, photos, videos, and other multimedia elements for the website and print editions.
• Handling a wide variety of assignments including breaking news, features, sports, and community event coverage.
• Contributing to a three-person team focused on providing coverage to the communities.
• Attending events in-person within the coverage area.
