About The Position
KTTC is seeking curious individuals eager to start their career as a journalist, share facts learned while researching stories, and make an impact daily. The role involves crafting stories for the morning newscast, participating in editorial meetings to discuss and pitch content, and then executing on approved stories. This includes confirming interviews, researching facts, gathering fresh video, shooting and editing video, writing stories for broadcast, and posting content to the station's website and social media platforms. Time management is crucial for this role. The newsroom fosters a young and energetic environment with experienced anchors providing daily feedback and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Start the day with the newscast, showcasing stories crafted the day before.
- Participate in editorial meetings, discussing stories and sharing ideas to determine the lead story.
- Pitch content through Microsoft Teams the day before and come ready to turn stories, having made calls and prearranged interviews in case their pitch is given the greenlight.
- Confirm interviews, research facts and background information.
- Get out the door to get fresh video.
- Shoot their own video and interviews.
- Write and edit their stories for broadcast.
- Post their stories to the station website and social media platforms.
- Make their story pitch for the next day, having already made calls and researched the topic ahead of time.
