About The Position

The Multimedia and Graphic Content Developer combines two PWS Special Qualifications positions — Multimedia Developer and Graphic Object Developer — into a single role responsible for the full range of visual and multimedia support to Army University Press publications. This includes conceptualizing, developing, and publishing multimedia products (animated maps, infographics, short video and audio pieces) and creating and revising graphic objects (maps, charts, photographs, and illustrations) used across AUP's book, journal, and digital publishing efforts.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (or higher) in graphic design, fine arts, or a similar field, or a degree in graphic design/graphic development.
  • 5-10 years of professional experience preparing multimedia assets for publishing and/or developing graphic objects for digital and physical publication.
  • High degree of expertise with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Expertise with Adobe Dreamweaver and a variety of digital image formats.
  • Ability to create artistic works that vary in style, tone, and concept to meet the needs of AUP publishing efforts.
  • Ability to build, refine, and enhance maps, graphics, illustrations, charts, and photographs to publishing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizing, developing, and publishing multimedia products (animated maps, infographics, short video and audio pieces).
  • Creating and revising graphic objects (maps, charts, photographs, and illustrations) used across AUP's book, journal, and digital publishing efforts.
  • Searching for and identifying applicable public-domain media files to serve as a basis for multimedia products.
  • Verifying and documenting copyright permissions/status for all media files and graphic objects prior to delivery.
  • Coordinating with COR to receive AUP-required style and format guidance during initial in-processing.
  • Supporting both routine monthly deliverable volumes and the annual in-person delivery of archived graphics on CD-ROM.
  • Delivering completed products via email or DoD SAFE file transfer, per file size and applicable task requirements.
