Performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production and facility equipment across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic systems. Ensures safe, reliable operations by conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, responding to downtime, inspecting for potential issues, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with safety and technical standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or one year related manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English.
  • Ability to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to calculate figures, amounts such as proportions, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Apply the concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must become a Certified Fork Lift operator in accordance with SCT training and carry a copy of your certification with you.
  • Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect and listen to machinery and equipment to identify malfunctions, unusual conditions, or performance issues, including testing as required
  • Diagnose equipment failures by reviewing machine operation, schematics, manuals, and input from operators and other maintenance personnel
  • Install, repair, and modify mechanical components, including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and rotating equipment
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power and control systems, including transformers, wiring, motors, drives, sensors, and related components
  • Troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled and automated equipment through diagnostics, testing, and component replacement
  • Use electrical and electronic test equipment such as multimeters, amp probes, megohm meters, oscilloscopes, and similar devices
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain piping, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including valves, regulators, gauges, and pumps
  • Fabricate, repair, or modify parts, jigs, fixtures, and structures using machine tools, welding, cutting, or fabrication equipment
  • Perform conduit installation, circuit routing, and electrical terminations where qualified
  • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and modifications with minimal disruption to operations
  • Work with supervisors, operators, vendors, and OEM technical support to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues
  • Assist with parts identification, ordering, inventory control, and updating documentation or electrical panels as required
  • Provide training, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing to other maintenance team members as needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, and process enhancements to improve safety, efficiency, and uptime
  • Maintain compliance with all safety policies, including lockout/tagout, arc flash requirements, PPE usage, and situational awareness
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with Food Safety, 5S, and departmental standards
  • Respond to pager, radio, or call-in requests as required and support maintenance needs across departments or locations
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned
  • Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the maintenance operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and written instructions.
