About The Position

The Weidmann Group is a global leader in transformer electrical insulation and advanced plastics technologies for medical and pharmaceutical applications. We are seeking a Multicraft Maintenance Technician for our Urbana, Ohio facility to join our team and help keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and electrical systems, utilizing electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication skills. The ideal candidate will be adept at diagnosing equipment failures, performing repairs, fabricating solutions, and contributing to equipment reliability initiatives to minimize downtime and enhance operational performance.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (Skilled Trades program, military technical background, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Must be highly proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, and welding and fabrication.
  • Strong ability to diagnose root causes of mechanical and electrical failures and perform reliable repairs independently.
  • Welding (MIG and TIG)
  • Experience working with 480V 3-phase systems, motors, controls, PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and mechanical service tools.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and support operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase motors, motor starters, relays, switches, sensors, VFDs, and control circuits.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and power transmission equipment.
  • Perform welding and fabrication activities (MIG/TIG preferred) to support equipment repairs, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Support equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Work closely with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
  • Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with controls-related diagnostics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and follow established safety procedures to ensure reliable equipment operation.
