About The Position

The Multi Skilled Technician (MST) supports registered nurses in the Emergency Care Center (ECC), an approximately 70-bed unit and Level II Trauma Center serving patients from infants through geriatrics. The ECC is located on the first floor of the Critical Care Tower. MSTs contribute to patient care and department operations as part of a diverse, team-based environment, working alongside other departments to support continuity of care. With experience, technicians may receive training in Ultrasound IV and care for critical care and trauma patients. Current EMT certification is strongly preferred. Open shifts are available for days and nights.

Requirements

Meet one of the following qualification pathways: hold active Florida licensure as a CNA, EMT, paramedic, or military corpsman; hold active national EMT licensure; meet the stated nursing-student eligibility requirements; be a PCT or CNA and provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board-approved program, then obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation; or qualify under the stated grandfathering provision for employees hired before 11/11/19.
Maintain required licensure active during employment where applicable.
Complete a Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Crisis Intervention class within one year of the hire, promotion, or transfer date.
Hold Basic Life Support/CPR certification.
Have a high school diploma, GED, or certificate.

Nice To Haves

Current EMT certification.
Ability to assess, interact, communicate, and care for the patient population served by the department.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.

Responsibilities

Start IVs.
Obtain laboratory samples.
Perform EKGs.
Assist with general patient care.
Answer call lights.
Provide continuous cardiac monitoring.
Work collaboratively with the ECC team and other departments to support continuity of patient care.
