About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. The person hired for the position of Electrical Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Mechanic Sr) will Install, maintain, and repair machinery & equipment, physical structures, piping and instrument and/or electrical systems as required to support production, with a focus on electrical troubleshooting and resolution. This job will also require the operation and maintenance of the plant utility systems which includes steam boilers, air compressors, fire protection, electrical generator and water purification. Here, you will make an impact by: Leading maintenance activities that keep production equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently, applying electrical and controls expertise while collaborating with teammates and partners to address equipment needs and support production goals. Implementing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, piping, instruments, electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and VFD-driven systems using established procedures, manufacturer guidance, electrical schematics, and technical documentation. Determining equipment condition and repair needs through inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair, including reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings to diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and equipment-related issues while minimizing downtime. Supporting a safe, organized, and compliant work environment by following safety and environmental practices, maintaining good housekeeping, addressing unsafe conditions, maintaining accurate equipment records, and participating in 5S, 5D problem solving, SQDC, and Lean Management System activities. Responding to scheduled and emergency maintenance needs, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, instrumentation, and other automated equipment, while contributing to the broader success of the department through effective communication, plant computer systems, ongoing skill development, and other maintenance activities as needed.

Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.
Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
Possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in one of the following fields: pipefitter, welder, electrician, instrument/electronics technician, HVAC-R, and/or millwright in a private, public, government or military environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Applicants meeting the basic qualifications may be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process.

Nice To Haves

Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control systems.
Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

Responsibilities
