About The Position

SUMMARY: Performs a variety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures and Computed Tomography (CT) procedures for the diagnosis of disease; provides appropriate care and service to patients of all age specific groups. The CT/MRI Technologist exercises independence ingenuity and initiative while performing the exam. Assume responsibility for the preparation, monitoring, care, and safety of the patient.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience preferred in a Hospital or clinic environment.
  • High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited school of CT and MRI Education.
  • Previous training involving all age groups, neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric.
  • American Registry of Radiologic ARRT/CRT Certification (MR) and CT, CPR certification.
  • Technologists- ARRT (MR).
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience on Siemens MRI equipment a plus.
  • Skilled in Siemens CT equipment, 16 and 64 slice.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history; gather pertinent previous studies and films; and examine records to ensure appropriateness of ordered examination.
  • Perform all routine aspect of CT/MRI procedures including start up procedures, test scans. Programs selection, media injections, filming and exam processing.
  • Effectively monitor patient safety at all times. Interview patient prior to the CT/MRI exam. Potential problems are discussed with radiologist if necessary.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure the CT/MRI environment is safe and all systems are in proper working order. Report any potential or actual problems to the Director of Radiology in a timely manner.
  • Perform tasks such as lifting, positioning, and transferring patients on/off exam table.
  • Accurately explains the CT/MRI procedure to the patients ensures patient comfort while on the scanner, assures positioning of the patient and successful completion of the exam or the radiologist protocol. Work closely with the radiologist taking suggestions, changes, additions or corrections to procedures by radiologists.
  • Operates complex radiographic equipment for purposes of obtaining standard diagnostic x- rays, positions patients utilizing various immobilization devices such as sponges and sand bags are required, selects proper technical factors.
  • Completes standard consultation form and maintains accurate records of all procedures in logbook.
  • Cleans and maintains orderliness in assigned area; maintains adequate supplies. Notifies Director of Radiology of any shortage.
  • Adheres to appropriate universal precautionary measures as outlined in the infection IIP program.
  • Develops x-ray films utilizing automatic equipment.
  • May participate in formal teaching programs and in-service education classes as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required such as orienting new personnel to department procedures.
