About The Position

The incumbent performs general radiographic procedures as well as more complex procedures according to written or transcribed verbal orders of a physician within the scope of his/her certification. Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Technologist can be required to participate in the department's call schedule to ensure coverage of weeknights, weekends and holidays. May access medication storage areas in accordance with their job function and hospital policy. As our Special Proc Technologist, you will be a vital clinical professional, applying specialized X-ray energy for patient diagnosis or treatment. Every day, you'll meticulously perform complex radiological procedures and techniques, producing high-quality images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. You'll ensure patient safety, comfort, and accurate positioning, operating advanced equipment with precision and upholding imaging standards. To be successful, you'll combine strong technical expertise with exceptional attention to detail, a deep understanding of radiation safety, and a compassionate, patient-focused approach, contributing to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years combination of education and experience: Medical Radiographer CA. Fluoroscopy Radiology Tech CA.
  • BLS from AHA.
  • Registered Technologist Radiuography ARRT (RTR).
  • Current California Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) and Fluoroscopy (RTTF) licenses.
  • Displays competency in general radiology in addition to one other modality below: Angiography Special Procedures - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Computerized Tomography (CT) Mammography
  • Knowledge of: Anatomy and physiology for imaging including cross sectional relationships.
  • Knowledge of: Medical terminology relating to Imaging.
  • Knowledge of: Principles of operation and care of primary and accessory imaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of: Currently accepted diagnostic Radiologic procedures.
  • Knowledge of: Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public.
  • Knowledge of: Film processing systems and/or PACS.
  • Knowledge of: Preparation, use and hazards of diagnostic contrast materials.

  • Effectively and empathetically deals with agitated, ill and distressed patients.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other healthcare personnel.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Calms and reassures those who may be distressed by the examination or procedure.
  • Develops and maintains a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel.
  • Works effectively under stress and adjusts priorities as circumstances require.

  • Maintains a high degree of accuracy in procedural detail.
  • Accurately operates and cares for Information System computers in the department.
  • Works independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions.
