About The Position

The Multimedia Specialist is responsible for managing and executing Close to Home's marketing and communications messaging and platforms, both internal and external. The specialist develops creative content and strategies to effectively represent our mission, vision, and brand. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or similar field.
  • OR Two (2) to four (4) years of equivalent work experience in housing, homelessness, social services, communications, marketing, volunteer/donor relations, public relations, social media, grant writing, project management, or related industries.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and website design.
  • Proficiency in photography, photo/video editing, graphic design, writing, and web development.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Internally driven to achieve without external pressure.
  • Desire to be a team player and take on challenges outside the scope of work.
  • Ability to identify creative solutions, work independently with enthusiasm, and take the initiative to develop original content.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift daily.
  • Ability to maintain composure under deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently to meet goals and objectives on time and at or under budget.
  • Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
  • Must maintain current registration and automobile liability insurance in compliance with Texas Law that allows personal vehicle use for work purposes.
  • Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 10 pounds, maneuvering in public spaces, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and essential office equipment.
  • Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions.
  • Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment or a field environment.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with Close to Home staff, develop and implement an integrated communications strategy aligned with organizational, mission, vision, core values, goals, and initiatives for Close to Home and the Alliance to House Everyone.
  • Create, edit, and maintain content for all digital and physical communication channels, including the website, newsletters, social media, email campaigns, flyers, annual report, State of Homelessness Report, and press materials.
  • Prepare print materials for events, including community events and resource tables, and staff speaking engagements.
  • Maintain consistent organizational branding, messaging, tone and visual identity for Close to Home and the Alliance to House Everyone, including online presence and reputation.
  • Support crisis and sensitive communications while protecting client dignity, confidentiality, and privacy.
  • Tell compelling, trauma-informed, mission-centered stories that humanize homelessness and the impact of the Homeless Response System.
  • Manage social media channels, editorial calendars, and digital communications.
  • Monitor communications performance and prepare reports using relevant engagement and analytics metrics.
  • Collaborate with development, programs, leadership, and committees to execute campaigns and events, including Billy Bundles, Point-in-Time Count, State of Homelessness, and Self-Care Expo.
  • Manage communications projects, vendors, freelancers, photographers, and other external partners as needed.
  • Occasionally support team members with grant applications, as directed.
  • Participate in continuing education and training opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications & Development and senior leadership.
