About The Position

Merchants Insurance Group is seeking a Multi-Line Claim Adjuster to join their Claims Legal team in Buffalo, New York. This role focuses on Commercial Auto, Property, General Liability, and Umbrella/Excess claims. The position involves extensive interaction with internal teams, policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, and various claim-related service providers. Requirements

  • A 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years claims experience handling Commercial Auto, Property, General Liability or Umbrella/Excess claims.
  • Skilled negotiator, capable of formulating strategy and action plans for files.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, desk management, communication and negotiation skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations or working towards industry specific designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivating relationships with claims and other internal staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and a variety of service providers and experts all while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders.
  • Investigating coverage and liability damages.
  • Provides a high level of customer service while managing a portfolio of Commercial Auto, Property, General Liability and Umbrella/Excess claims.
  • Conducting and directing timely and quality claim investigations, evaluations and equitable settlements of all assigned claims.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reserves consistent with established reserving philosophy and practices.
  • This is an inside position with possible travel required to attend mediation trials and arbitrations.
