About The Position

Georgia-Pacific's Gypsum plant in Sweetwater, TX is seeking a qualified Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful operation of the facility by resolving mechanical and electrical issues, recommending repairs and upgrades, identifying quality concerns, setting equipment in a precision state, and understanding equipment production thresholds. Requirements

  • One (1) year or more of experience with installation, calibration, fabrication, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, agriculture, oil & gas, or military environment.
  • Experience utilizing and interpreting equipment drawings/schematics such as electrical schematics & mechanical drawings.
  • Six (6) month's experience with: Single and 3-phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 Volts.
  • Six (6) month's experience with: Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatics systems.
  • Six (6) month's experience with: Troubleshooting issues and making repairs on bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyor.
  • Six (6) month's experience with: Precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Six (6) month's experience with: Installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating electrical/mechanical instrumentation.
  • Basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of electrical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment.
  • Two (2) year degree on Industrial Maintenance Technology.
  • Experience with PLCs (RSLogix 5000).
  • Experience with VFDs (Allen-Bradley, Yaskawa, Toshiba).
  • Experience using a cutting torch and welding with arc welder and fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, and circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and electrical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals and manufacturers specifications. Equipment includes but is not limited to: motors, pneumatic components, conveyor systems and production machines.
  • Perform periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance routes.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings.
  • Work with the operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
  • Help meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment to reduce waste.
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of reliability/ precision centered maintenance strategies.
  • Use pipefitting skills to weld, cut, fit and install piping throughout the facility.
  • Apply problem solving methods to identify the root cause and eliminate failure.
  • Work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
