About The Position

This position installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, apparatus, and electrical and mechanical components of industrial machinery and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role requires a dynamic, driven, and motivated individual with a firm attention to detail, who works daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are operating at risk lowered to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM.

Requirements

  • Broad Technical training (high school plus 1 to 2 years of apprenticeship/applied trades training).
  • Training requires a basic knowledge in the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, PLC programs, DC drive motors, AC drive motors and various types of precision measuring instruments is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years electrical preferred.
  • Multi-craft experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred of 5-7 years.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical (up to 480v), electronic and controls systems.
  • Conducts equipment inspections for proper operation and mechanical integrity.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical safety guidelines and electrical safety related work practices such as Lockout/Tagout and Arc Flash safety regulations.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of safe and proper use of basic electrical diagnostic equipment (volt/ohm meter, etc.).
  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic multimeter functions (i.e., fuses, conductivity).
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits-relays, contactors, motors, starters, AC/DC drives, PLC’s, and machine dedicated HMI programs.
  • Lubricates and maintains all equipment during normal operations and planned/scheduled preventive maintenance work.
  • Repairs auxiliary components.
  • Changes bearing and wear components, replaces and adjusts belts, pulleys, and drive components.
  • Understands thread terminology, tap drill sizes, fastener terminology, drill sizes, bit sizes & types.
  • Reads blueprints, schematics, installation and arrangement drawings, basic components, electrical diagrams and symbols and install wire machinery to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Removes and installs AC/DC motors.
  • Solders electrical and electronic components.
  • Identifies component type construction and application.
  • Troubleshoots components and diagnose trouble for: Pump failure, Drive failure, Loss of rotation, Hydraulic failure, Loss of low (air, water, oil), Loss of cooling, Pressurized gas system problems, Vibration.
  • Creates and modifies work orders within the MAXIMO CMMS system to include recording logs, entering time and follow-up work to be performed.
  • Adheres to the company safety policies and related guidelines, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage.
  • Other mechanical/electrical duties as assigned.
