About The Position

Leads a small team of teachers and paraprofessionals in a similar grade level or subject area to meet high standards of excellence. Establishes team members' roles and goals annually, determines student time allocation, and organizes teaching roles based on individual strengths, content knowledge, and professional development goals. The team utilizes the MCL's methods and tools. The role involves co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, coaching, providing feedback, and fostering a tutoring culture. The MCL teaches students part-time, analyzes student learning data with the team to adjust instruction for high-growth learning, with a focus on small-group teaching and tutoring. The MCL collaborates with the team, incorporating innovations that improve learning and guiding reach associates. The MCL is fully accountable for the learning and development of all students taught by the team.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, and Power Point; Google Apps.
  • Knowledge of core subject matter being taught.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to model, coach, and engage in PLCs’ structures and practices.
  • Ability to adapt to digital tools and resources.
  • Ability to demonstrate effectiveness working with people who have differing cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics, including race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or economic differences.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Five years of teaching experience.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license in assigned teaching area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Experience successfully leading a team of adults to accomplish goals, though not necessarily as formal leader.
  • Prior evidence of high-growth student learning in the relevant subjects (as measured by EVAAS, at least 2 of last 3 years blue growth).
  • Experience working successfully with those of similar demographics to the desired school placement.

  • Leads team to design and lead research-based instruction.
  • Leads team to design assessments that accurately assess student growth.
  • Leads team to prepare to deliver small-group teaching and tutoring.
  • Leads team to hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement.

  • Solicits and receives feedback from supervisor and team members.
  • Leads team to maintain regular communication with families and work collaboratively with them.
  • Organizes and schedules team time to ensure alignment of instructional vision and troubleshoot learning challenges.
  • Determines how students spend instructional time based on team strengths.
  • Allocates instructional process elements among the team based on strengths, content knowledge, and professional development goals.
  • Supervises the work and schedule of the Reach Associate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
