About The Position

We’re seeking an MST‑CAN Expert to train, guide, and support MST‑CAN programs across the U.S. and abroad. You’ll ensure high‑quality, adherent implementation of Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse and Neglect—an intensive, evidence‑based model that supports the safety and well‑being of vulnerable youth and families. You’ll partner closely with clinicians, supervisors, administrators, and system stakeholders to promote effective treatment delivery and strong program outcomes. In addition to MST-CAN Expert responsibilities, there is an opportunity to expand your learning during MST Services booster trainings, create Network Partner Conference workshop trainings, and participate in MST Services peer and workgroups.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in psychology or related field OR Master’s + two years as an MST‑CAN Supervisor, MST-BSF Supervisor or MST Expert (MST or other treatment types/adaptations).
  • Strong foundation in family therapy, behavioral therapy and child development, crisis management, and safety planning is required.
  • Ability to develop expertise in trauma-focused treatment, prolonged exposure, contingency management, and reinforcement behavior therapy also required.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, train, or present to professionals.
  • Ability to work independently with high accountability and integrity.
  • Ability to travel 35–50%, domestic and/or international (e.g., Europe/Australia) as assigned.
  • Work may include non‑traditional hours (evenings/weekends) to meet program or time‑zone needs.
  • Regular use of computer and phone, prolonged sitting; frequent standing/walking/bending/talking.
  • Lift/carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel by air.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Offer of employment is contingent on successful completion of background checks appropriate for work with children and families (e.g., criminal history, child abuse/neglect registry where applicable, credential/education verification), consistent with applicable law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly consultation to MST‑CAN or MST-BSF teams.
  • Deliver training and implementation support to supervisors and therapists, including written development plans to strengthen model adherence.
  • Lead portions of MST‑CAN Orientation, MST-CAN Trauma Training, and Supervisor Orientation.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate and deliver quarterly booster trainings (materials, scheduling, communication, facilitation).
  • Engage in program startup, QA, and CQI processes, including strengths/needs assessments, Program Implementation Reviews, and provides feedback on treatment protocols such as TF-CBT, Prolonged Exposure, Reinforcement Based Treatment, and substance use.
  • Serve as a resource for research-supported interventions and MST‑CAN model components.
  • Collaborate closely with a Manager of Clinical Implementation for quality assurance and professional development.
