About The Position

This position is for a Middle School/High School Visual and Performing Arts Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The school's mission is to partner with parents in growing children in Christ by providing a biblically based academic curriculum and teaching principles from God's word. The role involves supporting parents in their responsibility to train up a child and providing a biblical foundation for academic education.

Requirements

  • BS or BA degree
  • Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential
  • ASCI Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrate Christ-like attributes in speech and actions.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities.
  • Must pass a pre-employment reference and background screen.
  • Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to escort and supervise students over a multi-block area as they cross busy streets in an urban environment.
  • Ability to keep up with students, control them until reaching their destination and remain with the students at that location.
  • Ability to accompany students in hallways or other places in the building as they move from one location to another.
  • Ability to prepare bulletin boards (monthly) between 2 ½-6 feet in height.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to allow for active supervision and interaction with students.
  • May be required to move student’s desks, worktables, chairs, or re-configure room.
  • Ability to demonstrate lesson concepts using chalkboards, media, hands-on materials and computers.
  • Required to prepare evaluation reports, fill in records, and communicate with parents both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to actively supervise students within the classroom or in the gymnasium area.
  • Ability to supervise students on the playground, parking lot, or park.
  • Ability to quickly summon help when an emergency arises.
  • Required to render minimal first aid to students.
  • Required to be present daily half an hour before the students arrive until half an hour after the students depart.
  • Required to be present for faculty meetings and other special functions after school, and occasionally for meetings or other functions in the evening.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a daily personal devotional life.
  • Demonstrate love and obedience to Christ and His word by example.
  • Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled devotions and share in leading faculty devotions.
  • Attend an evangelical church and serve in a church ministry.
  • Provide written/digital teaching plans incorporating the school’s scope and sequence or approved curriculum.
  • Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials for creative teaching that meets the whole child’s spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional needs.
  • Develop a plan and method for evaluating student work.
  • Request instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Clearly communicate the objectives and relevance of the material being taught.
  • Integrate Biblical principles as appropriate.
  • Determine that students grasped the information being taught.
  • Demonstrate command of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, materials, media, and evaluation tools.
  • Monthly update of bulletin boards in the classroom.
  • Provide reference to other disciplines and life examples to transfer, expand and enrich learning.
  • Utilize effective classroom and instructional management techniques.
  • Reflect a Christ-like spirit in all relationships.
  • Recognize the value of time-on-task and demonstrate good use of the instructional period.
  • Arrange the physical environment to complement the learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain progress reports and evaluations for parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintain accurate and complete school records.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, team members, faculty, office staff, and administration.
  • Clearly communicate compassion and empathy to all students.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle when dealing with conflicts.
  • Arrive punctually and attend all duties, programs, and meetings.
  • Serve on appropriate committees for curriculum evaluation, textbooks, operational procedures, special events, services, etc.
  • Actively contribute to a positive school culture and climate.
  • Supervise extra-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
  • Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
  • Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative functions.
  • Support the school's broader program by attending extracurricular activities when possible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
  • Actively support and maintain safety standards, training, and an ongoing safety program.
  • Understand and direct children during fire, earthquake, and lockdown procedures.
  • Take on an assigned role in the disaster plan if implemented.
  • Provide minor first aid to children and report additional needs.
  • Comply with requirements to report reasonable suspicion of abuse.
