About The Position

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to A Safer Florida through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol. This position will be responsible for the quality assurance monitoring of licensed Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Programs in Florida by conducting DUI Program Site Visits, preparing Site Visit Reports, and investigating complaints. This position will be responsible for researching, developing, implementing, and facilitating training in accordance with Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code for the DUI Pre-Service Trainings. The incumbent in this position will serve as a liaison between the Department, DUI Programs, and DUI and Special Supervision Services Program (SSSP) customers. This position will also be responsible for participation in, and documentation of SSSP Appeal Hearings.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of human service program monitoring.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of substance abuse and treatment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Skill using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret state and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving, analytical skills, and teamwork to resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of the DUI and Ignition Interlock system.
  • Direct client service skills.
  • Ability to provide detailed training in group settings.
  • Ability to read driver license records.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge, skill or experience in mental health services, substance abuse services and/or counseling.
  • Experience in analyzing information or documents for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Access and PowerPoint.
  • A Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience conducting quality assurance reviews, developing improvement plans or making recommendations for corrective action.
  • Professional work experience in facilitating live instructional presentations.
  • Professional work experience performing customer service duties, including handling complaints.
  • Bilingual (speak, read, and write another language).
