About The Position

Crosspoint Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered Middle School Boys Basketball Head Coach to lead and develop student athletes in a positive, growth-focused environment. The Head Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading all aspects of the middle school program, with an emphasis on fundamentals, skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. As a member of the Gateway OneTeam, you will support and demonstrate an understanding of the church’s mission: Presenting Hope and Developing People. Possessing a character that reflects biblical godliness, demonstrating a meaningful personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and active involvement in a local body of Christian believers are key qualifications. This at-will position may be held in addition to a teaching or other assignment. Compensation is stipend-based and may vary depending on participation numbers.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to lead, teach, and mentor middle school–aged students
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates positive leadership, patience, and consistency
  • Be employed by Crosspoint Christian Schools.
  • Be a high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program.
  • Annually complete the WIAA general rules clinic and the WIAA-approved rule clinic for the sport being coached.
  • Hold a valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Successfully complete Concussion Recognition and Management with Return to Play Protocols Training (valid for three [3] years).
  • Successfully complete Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness and Training (valid for three [3] years).
  • Successfully complete the WIAA-approved Coaching Principles course (within first three [3] years), with recertification every three (3) years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred minimum age: 25 (flexible based on experience)
  • Previous coaching experience at the youth or middle school level, and playing experience in the sport.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and leads all practices (minimum 3–4 times per week, 60–90 minutes)
  • Organizes and oversees team tryouts and team selection
  • Teaches fundamental skills, rules of the game, and age-appropriate strategy
  • Promotes teamwork, effort, sportsmanship, and a positive team culture
  • Supervises and mentors assistant and volunteer coaches
  • Communicates with parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates
  • Coordinates with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, facilities, transportation, and eligibility
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all student-athletes
  • Oversees equipment use, care, and organization
  • Maintains appropriate records as needed (attendance, injuries, etc.)
  • Models Christian character and provides spiritual leadership appropriate to the setting
