About The Position

The Middle School Assistant Football Coach will instruct participants in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for success in football. This role also focuses on instilling moral values, pride, self-discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship in student athletes. The assistant coach will work under the Head Coach to align and implement systems and skill development within the athletic program.

Requirements

  • Valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Coaching and/or leadership experience

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Knowledge of conference rules and regulations
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in the operation of the athletic program.
  • Coach and instruct players on the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of football.
  • Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
  • Provide proper supervision of athletes at all times.
  • Participate in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to join the sport.
  • Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other duties as determined by the Head Coach.
  • Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Participate in special activities such as parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
  • Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
