About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting MRO leadership in achieving business and financial goals through developing and maintaining FAA and customer compliant procedures and processes that support the repairs business. Additional responsibilities include implementing robust manufacturing processes that support operations with process improvements & troubleshooting, working on new product design, developing tooling, assisting with shop floor layout, and leading continuous improvement activities (kaizen events, use of six sigma tools, 5S etc.). Day-to-day functions could include fabricating tools and fixtures, optimizing processes and work instructions, and seeking opportunities to reduce waste, cost and inefficiencies through the creation of work standards. Occasionally, this position would also include the development of new repair criteria and would interface with various vendors/suppliers. In these instances, this role would develop component drawings and work with suppliers to procure them in a short lead time environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment inclusive of internship experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CNC machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Strong project management / problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute cost effective repair procedures for Eaton, non-Eaton and government regulatory agencies’ products in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
  • Research and comply with all required regulatory approvals for Aero Repair Station
  • Partner with cross functional team to deliver new repair schemes in short lead time
  • Ability to learn multiple product families (hose & tube assemblies, ducting assemblies, flexible joints and sealing technologies)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements/order generation process logic.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tool sets as they relate to production management.
  • Ability to participate in and direct cross-functional process improvement teams.
  • Ability to answer inspection related questions; learn Blueprints and acquire GD&T knowledge
  • Eliminate waste, reduce process variations and deliver products in alignment with customer’s expectations. Facilitate kaizen events including the problem solving and process improvement blitzes.
  • Identifies and resolves opportunities, gathers and analyzes information, develops and implements actions plans to improve efficiency and reduce cost. Create charts and visuals as necessary to support analysis.
  • Develop and maintain robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices. Understands shop capacity planning related to equipment, processes, and manning. Must be mindful of process and test capabilities and recognize organizational core competencies.
  • Determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve issues involving discrepant product or material.
  • Assists in the composition of Capital Appropriation Requests (including payback and net present value analysis) for acquisition of equipment to support emerging and existing technologies as required.
  • Displays original thinking and creativity. Meets challenges with resourcefulness. Generates suggestions and ideas for improving work and processes. Sets and achieves challenging goals. Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles. Measures self-performance against high level of excellence.
  • Assist leadership team and others in performing work load analysis and resources optimization. Extracts data from ERP systems as needed.
