About The Position

The MRO Buyer is responsible for meeting purchasing needs for assigned commodity and/or service areas. This includes planning, reviewing requisitions, processing and entering information into systems, and selecting suppliers through delivery. The role supports cost reduction, supplier negotiations and contracts, plant spending and supply tracking, and inventory control. It also includes administrative project support and accountability for vendor-managed inventory.

Requirements

• Knowledge of MRP purchasing applications.
• Ability to negotiate effectively.
• 3–5 years of experience in a purchasing-related function.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office programs.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree in supply management, business, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, develop, implement, and track cost reduction programs for MRO items.
• Negotiate and respond to supplier price changes.
• Negotiate short- and long-term contracts with suppliers.
• Track and report plant spending.
• Track and control plant supplies.
• Assist with administrative projects.
• Check inventory levels within the plant.
• Keep vendors accountable for vendor-managed inventory.
• Plan purchasing needs, review requisitions, process system inputs, and select suppliers through delivery for assigned commodity and/or service areas.
