About The Position

The MRO Buyer is responsible for meeting purchasing needs in assigned commodity and service areas, from planning and requisition review through process and system input, supplier selection, and delivery. The role develops and tracks cost-reduction programs for MRO items, negotiates supplier pricing and contracts, monitors plant spending and supplies, and supports administrative projects. The buyer also checks plant inventory levels and holds vendors accountable for vendor-managed inventory.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a purchasing-related function.
• Knowledge of MRP purchasing applications.
• Ability to negotiate effectively.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office programs.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree in supply management, business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, develop, implement, and track cost-reduction programs for MRO items.
• Negotiate with suppliers and respond to supplier price changes.
• Negotiate short- and long-term supplier contracts.
• Track and report plant spending.
• Track and control plant supplies.
• Assist with administrative projects.
• Check inventory levels within the plant.
• Keep vendors accountable for vendor-managed inventory.
• Support purchasing needs for assigned commodities and services, including planning, requisition review, process and system input, supplier selection, and delivery.
