Procure direct and indirect materials, including production, prototype, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) components, necessary to support manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include achieving the best possible pricing, lead-time agreements, resolution of quality issues, on-time delivery, and effective inventory management to support production continuity and cost objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and peers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer using a Windows-based operating system and related software.
  • Advanced PC skills, including knowledge of Jabil’s internal software systems.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and read and understand visual aids.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with minimal variability.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field and 4 plus years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in decision-making related to MPS loading through proper materials sizing.
  • Analyze, maintain, and execute the Materials Requirement Plan (MRP).
  • Continuously monitor and verify the materials pipeline to ensure alignment with MRP requirements and proactively address supply issues.
  • Ensure materials availability to support production per the Master Production Schedule through effective MRP execution, on-time delivery, and coordination of material movement from receiving to production.
  • Procure MRO materials and services required to support manufacturing equipment, facilities, tooling, maintenance activities, and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams to understand MRO requirements and prioritize demand.
  • Monitor MRO inventory levels to balance cost control with operational continuity, minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Proactively eliminate material liabilities by understanding ownership (supplier vs. customer).
  • Track and provide supporting data to BUMs to clearly define customer-liable materials.
  • Execute and maximize Jabil-negotiated supplier terms to reduce material and MRO liability.
  • Issue Purchase Orders in accordance with pricing, terms, and conditions negotiated by Jabil Commodity Managers and Buyers, ensuring supplier compliance.
  • Optimize order management processes to ensure effective communication with suppliers for both direct materials and MRO purchases.
  • Maintain integrity of master data and purchasing parameters to minimize liability and balance procurement cost with inventory investment.
  • Monitor and continuously improve supplier delivery and quality performance; address recurring or critical issues utilizing corrective action tools.
  • Support Accounts Payable in resolving invoice discrepancies related to direct materials and MRO purchases.
  • Provide input to support and execute Jabil’s commodity, pricing, and indirect procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Buyers, Commodity Managers, and SCM.
  • Minimize materials and MRO freight expenses through supplier negotiation and logistics optimization.
  • Monitor, track, and provide feedback on supplier performance related to delivery, quality, service, and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and security policies associated with this position.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
