About The Position

The MRO Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies that support continuous operations within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures the timely availability of critical parts, equipment, and services needed to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production. The MRO Buyer works closing with maintenance, engineering, finance, and operations team to understand material requirements, forecast demand, and maintain optimal inventory levels. This position also manages vendor relationships, negotiates pricing and contracts, and ensures compliance with company procurement policies and budgetary guidelines. The scope of this role includes monitoring inventory usage, maintaining accurate purchasing records, and identifying cost-saving opportunities while ensuring quality and reliability of supplied materials. The MRO Buyer plays a key role in supporting preventive maintenance programs and operational efficiency by ensuring the right materials are available as needed.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalency preferred
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain.
  • 3+ years’ experience with procurement software and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • 3+ years’ experience with inventory control in a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of within the organization as well as outside the organization including suppliers/vendors, and customers.
  • Must have excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Must keep work area clean and safe.
  • Understanding and daily practice of 5S.
  • Communicate with all Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Follow all food safety and consumer safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Participate in GMP and food safety training.
  • Reports all food safety concerns with urgency.
  • Source and procure MRO materials, including spare parts, tools, equipment, and supplies to support maintenance and operations.
  • Manage purchase orders and invoices for contracted services, such as forklift repairs, building repairs, equipment specific vendors and contractors.
  • Manages scheduling and coordination of all inbound and outbound shipments with carriers and logistics partners.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate records through CMMS systems.
  • Manage the full MRO purchasing cycle from quoting, creating purchase order, purchasing from vendor, receiving the material or service, ensure correct parts are received, and closing the PO when invoice is received.
  • Provides necessary purchasing updates to the finance department.
  • Coordinate with production, planning, and customer service teams to align shipping priorities with operational demands.
  • Resolve shipping delays, discrepancies, and transportation issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.

  • A broad base of current technical knowledge is required to ensure that standards are met, and efficiencies are maintained.
