About The Position

Reporting to the Director of MRN Operations and under limited direction, the MRN Office Manager will manage a variety of administrative tasks and functions to ensure efficient operations of MRN's non-research activities. Will coordinate and schedule meetings, symposia and other events; maintain financial records including overseeing petty cash; work with/assist other MRN and LBRI internal departments on a variety of administrative tasks; oversee the purchase and maintenance of general office supplies; provide back-up to front desk operations; and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned. The Manager will supervise the MRN reception/front desk employees. Will identify staffing needs and available expertise, provide leadership and mentoring to all department staff, direct the recruiting and selection process for all departmental positions, and work with the Human Resources Department as needed on performance evaluations, training and development of staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous personnel supervision.
  • Demonstrated prior experience working in an office environment acting as an Office Manager, Executive Assistant, Administrative Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and the ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to develop professional and effective relationships with both administrative and scientific managers and colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate operational needs to Institute leadership.
  • Superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong customer-service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with solid judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to perform duties independently.
  • Professional-level computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
