Performs all MRI scans. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, administration of contrast media, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedures. Receives consultation request, checking for special instructions from the requesting physician. Consults with the Radiologist as necessary. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introduces self. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and his/her family if present. Reviews all MRI safety procedures with patients, family, and non-MRI associates. Updates patient examination history file, records unusual conditions/limitations, documents examination time, and technique factors, contrast media injections. Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs other paperwork as required. Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or work station, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items. Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Neonatal/Infant: 0 - 11 months; Pediatrics: 1 - 12 years; Adolescence: 13 - 17 years; Young Adult/Adult: 18 - 64 years; Adult/Middle-Aged: 65 - 79 years; Geriatric: 80+ years. Transport patients as needed.
