About The Position

This position is for an MRI Technologist working in an outpatient setting at the Helen Graham Center. The role involves performing MRI procedures, ensuring patient safety, maintaining compliance with regulations, and accurately documenting patient information. The technologist will also be responsible for obtaining clinical history, verifying insurance, maintaining patient confidentiality, and demonstrating proficiency in various technical skills including IV access and contrast media injection.

Requirements

  • MR Technologist—experience required.
  • ARRT Registered Technologist required.
  • ARRT Advanced MRI Certification required within 2 years of hire.
  • Cerner training required.
  • Excellent customer service/telephone skills required.
  • Flexibility in hours is required.
  • Flexibility to work at alternate locations as needed.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Completion of IV training course
  • Yearly PEEPS certification required for proper and safe positioning and transfer of patients.
  • The successful completion of the MRI Registry exam is a job requirement. A technologist, who is recruited and non-certified, will have a grace period of 2 years following hire to pass this exam.

  • Completion of formal and/or on the job training on cross sectional anatomy.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of MRI units, radiology supported computer systems and CD burners.
  • Performs MRI procedures and quality control as defined by departmental protocols.
  • Performs MRI safety screenings for patients and researches implanted devices prior to scanning.
  • Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in ACR and state licenses. Complies with Joint Commission regulations.
  • Completes all technical assigned imaging and non-imaging procedures in the designated scheduled times.
  • Enters accurate patient study information into the clinical care systems.
  • Assist with the coordination of workflow and patient care activities.
  • Obtain clinical history regarding reason for examination and obtains appropriate consent.
  • Verifies insurance pre-authorization as defined by departmental protocols prior to scanning patient.
  • Maintains patient confidentially.
  • Uses 2 patient identifiers at all times.
  • Demonstrates ability to obtain IV access.
  • Ability to assess patient for adverse reactions and/or changes in patient status.
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of contrast media injectors.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform i-STAT testing and accurate calculation of GFR following established departmental policies and procedures.
