This position performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams. The technologist exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures, MRI safety considerations, and provides a quality patient care experience. The role involves initiating life support measures as necessary, interacting effectively with patients, family members, physicians, and other health care workers. The technologist must have extensive knowledge of MRI equipment operation, patient positioning for comfort during the exam, and administering contrast material as required. They will obtain patient history and clinical indication for MRI study, accurately document in patient records, and utilize electronic medical record software for scheduling and billing. The role requires the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to improve personalized treatment and care, and to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status. Extensive knowledge of cross-section anatomy and the ability to work with all ages of patients is essential. Facility sites may expand job responsibilities to include on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays, and may perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks, mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
