About The Position

This is a Talent Pool posting for all current MRI Technologist vacancies. External applicants will be reviewed monthly for full-time, part-time, temporary, and casual opportunities that arise in the next 12 months. Students with a set exam date are also welcome to apply. UHN's Medical Imaging department is one of the largest academic medical imaging departments in Canada, utilizing cutting-edge digital technology and a dedicated team to prioritize patient care and exceptional image quality. The department is involved in developing new MRI protocols and procedures for various areas, including cardiac, breast, neuro, abdominal and pelvic, oncological, and musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging, to assist in quicker diagnosis and treatments. UHN has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its MRI clinical workflows across its fleet of 7 scanners. The department also trains new technologists from across Canada, providing students opportunities to use new technology and learn from experienced MRI technologists. In addition to advanced MR imaging, MRI Technologists are involved in clinical procedures such as MR Elastrography (MRE) and MR guided focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS). UHN is committed to ongoing education, quality assurance, and is affiliated with the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Education.

Requirements

  • CMRITO registration
  • Completion of Cross-sectional anatomy and Contrast Injection courses
  • Completion of clinical component of relevant accredited medical imaging academic program, or equivalent education assessed by CAMRT and CMRITO
  • Completion of a BCLS program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification, with maintenance of certification
  • Effective time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and comfort with decision making including an ability to respond to changing and emergent situations
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated good judgement to ensure work is always performed in the best interest and safety of the patient and the team

  • CAMRT certification with current membership
  • Related technologist experience in a hospital environment

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the dynamic team to perform MRI procedures in accordance with applicable legislation, clinical standards and departmental procedures
  • Provide exceptional care to patients, families and caregivers while adhering to Medical Imaging department and UHN policies and best practices
  • Effectively communicate with inter-professional and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a fast paced, high patient volume setting
  • Participate in professional development, teaching and educational activities, and mentoring, as required
  • Fulfill on-call requirements/obligations, as required
  • Coordinate daily work schedule, prioritizes emergency/add-on cases, as required
