In an inpatient setting, this role involves operating all MRI equipment, including imaging coils and patient monitoring systems. The technologist will evaluate image quality, troubleshoot scanner or coil issues, and identify/compensate for imaging artifacts. A thorough review of MRI registration and screening forms is required to ensure safe magnet room access. This position also includes assisting in the training of new MRI technologists and students, performing filming, archiving, and PACS network data management, and retrieving old MRI data. The technologist will master new techniques with scanner upgrades and receive training and guidance from senior technologists. Responsibilities include scanning patients safely and efficiently, completing all associated paperwork and computer work, and providing post-MRI instructions. The role requires identifying patient service requirements, educating patients/families about procedures, preparing patients by positioning and adjusting equipment, performing procedures according to orders and established protocols, producing high-quality images for timely interpretation, and maintaining accurate documentation. Maintaining a safe environment according to MRI safety policies and performing equipment quality control are also key duties. The technologist may train new employees or lead day-to-day activities.
